The series ended with a wild, wet and windy afternoon of racing.
Clear blue skies, a gorgeous sunset and full moon rise over Carters Creek capped off the day beautifully.

Another gorgeous night on the Rappahannock. There were 12 Typhoons out tonight gearing up for one more week of the fall series and the Turkey Shoot on Oct 3.

In response to the corona19 virus threat to our members and staff the clubhouse will be closed until further notice. The Board is constantly monitoring the situation with the view to returning to normal as soon as possible.

2019 Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta

Thanks to Division wins by Frank Miller (Windblown) in Div 1, Jesse Swartz (Irrational Exuberance) Div 2, Glenn Solt (Freedom) Div 3 and Norm Faulkner (Country Woman) Div 5 RRYC won the coveted John and Carole Jean McConnico trophy awarded to the yacht club with the three best Division finishes.

Winds were blowing with 14 gusting to 20 on Saturday from the NNE with seas up to 3 ft. Sunday winds of 10-14 gusting to 18 blew from the South. The picture above of the Saturday start indicates the wind and sea conditions. The conditions caused more than a few incidents with two dismasting and a few disturbing collisions.

RRYC Retains Rappahannock Cup

Eleven boats from RRYC and YPRCC contented for individual honors and as teams for the Rappahannock Cup on September 14. RRYC retained the cup with an overall impressive performance. Click on the arrow at right for details.

It was a windy and wild start to the race season. Luckily the wind died down a bit after the first race and we were able to complete 3 races before the sun set. We had 12 boats out on the water and it was lovely to see so many new and old faces! Scores are listed below -

It was a beautiful night for the first race of 2020! There were 8 typhoons with light to moderate winds and sunny skies. Race committee set up 3 fun races setting the stage for close competition.
Pool Rule Change

As more and more people want to use the pool, families are having trouble securing slots at times that suit them. To address this problem, please note the following rule change:

Each membership is limited to THREE advance bookings per week.

As before, bookings may be made the day ahead and are for one hour. As before, over and above your advance bookings, if you see a slot open within 59 minutes of that slot time, you may book it.

This rule will go into effect this Sunday, July 19th. Weeks will be counted as Sunday to the following Saturday.

Covid 19 Pool Rules

* Pool use is at your own risk *

• Swimming is by appointment only using Signup Genius.
• Reservations can be made on the day required or ONE
day ahead only.
• To reserve your time, click on this link below, fill in your
details as requested and sign up.

• Reservations are for one hour.
• One unit will be permitted in the pool enclosure per
hour. A unit is defined as a family members living under
the same roof OR two individual members (for example
Danielle and Judy).
• If two individual members wish to swim together, the
reservation must be made by one member.
• Before and after use, the pool gate, furniture and
bathroom (if used) must be cleaned. Cleaning products
will be provided.
• No guests are allowed.
• All posted pool rules apply.
Astronomy Course Continues

"Professor" Perry, of NASA, began the two-night college-level lecture series on January 7th and will complete the four-hour course on January 14th, starting at 1900h (7PM). Registration is required.

Race committee was able to sneak in two races despite light winds.
