"Messing about in Boats" RRYC Dinghy Regatta - August 14, 2021

We have had three very successful fun events these past three years.    The event will start at 1pm, sailing will complete by late afternoon and then a meal on the porch with a fun family social event.  We find that the early afternoon start works well for families and this is very much an event for families and sailors of all ages.  This event may be the most fun you have on the water this year!

NOTICE OF RACE

Description:  The Regatta will consist of up to three round-the-buoy races - sailed on Carters Creek.

 

Eligibility:  Any centerboard dinghy with LOA 20’ or under.

 

Rules: The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. Handicaps will be based on the North American Portsmouth Yardstick numbers as published by US Sailing.

 

Entry:  Entry form is available on RRYC website 2021 Messing About in Boats Entry Form . Entry forms should be  emailed to info@premiersailing.com by 13 August 2021 (we need to know what boat you are entering).  The Race Committee will appreciate getting your entry in early so we can see how many and what kind of boats to expect.

 

Entry Fee: $25 per boat.  $10 for skippers 15 and under.

 

Schedule:  The skippers meeting will be held at 1:00pm at the RRYC porch.  The warning signal for the first race will be at 2:00pm.  The second race will start soon after the last boat in the previous race finishes.  The third race, time permitting, will start soon after the last boat in the previous race finishes.  Prizes and pizza on the porch at about 6pm.

 

Scoring:  Scoring will be Low Point Scoring system in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

 

Appeals:  Appeals are denied IAW RRS 70.5 and the Notice of Race for this Regatta.

 

Entertainment and Awards: Awards will be given for top places and other reasons at the discretion of the Race Committee. They will be given after the racing at the Rappahannock River Yacht Club clubhouse.  Entertainment and refreshments will also be provided.
