Hi, this is Jim Bearden, your RRYC Cruising Director for this year. It is time to start thinking about potential cruising destinations - where would you like to go?

There is basically an infinite number of destinations in the Chesapeake so start thinking.

A few that come to mind are:

Longer trips:
Albemarle sound Loop - go down the Dismal Swamp, tour the Albemarle and return via the Virginia cut
Annapolis
Baltimore
Washington

Shorter Trips (as short as a weekend or a little longer)
Shakedown Cruise - an overnight somewhere.
Fleets Bay - great place to bring the dog and kid
Onancock - great overnight - nice restaurants and shopping
Jackson Creek or Fishing Bay
Great Wicomico River
Cape Charles

Yacht Clubs to Visit
Fishing Bay
Soloman’s Island
Mathews
Hampton

And that what is what I came up with off the top of my head.

To kick this cruising season off I would like to have a planning session on Saturday, February 29th at 5pm at the club. I hope to pick locations, cruise leaders and anything else we need to figure out. Pizza, beer and wine will be provided.

PS - I want to remind everyone that there is a PRHF Sailing Event Planning Workshop planned for Feb 27th at 7pm at the club, and the event is open to all cruisers. The goal is to get more people out racing their boats. So if you are interested in racing, even just to crew on a race boat please plan on attending the Workshop.
